An Overview of the Association.
Bihimmetkom Association for Youth with Disabilities is a youth organization that emerged from the first Youth Conference for Persons with Disabilities, “I Am Part,” held in 2017 in Ramallah. The conference witnessed active participation from 172 individuals with disabilities (93 females and 79 males) as part of the “Bihimmetkom” project, implemented by the Palestinian Vision Foundation with support from Diakonia (NAD).
Our Vision
Youth with disabilities who have the ability to bring about change, the desire to advocate for their rights, and actively participate in the community, as they are an integral part of the youth demographic.
Our Mission
The association aims to support and empower youth with disabilities in Palestinian society, building their various capacities to enable them to advocate for their rights. It also seeks to enhance their role in improving the situation of youth with disabilities, participating in decision-making, and bringing about positive change in their Palestinian community.
Bihimmetkom Association is the first association for youth with disabilities in Palestine, officially licensed in 2019, with a board of directors consisting of youth with disabilities, 6 males and 3 females. The association aims to support and empower youth with disabilities in Palestinian society, building their various capacities to enable them to advocate for their rights. It also seeks to enhance their role in improving the situation of youth with disabilities, participating in decision-making, and bringing about positive change in their Palestinian community.
Goals of Bihimmetkom:
- Contributing to the development of the abilities of individuals with disabilities and making them active participants in building a democratic society that respects diversity and human rights
- Contributing to raising community awareness about the issues and rights of youth with disabilities.
- Enhancing the community participation of youth with disabilities and activating their role in decision-making
- Promoting the concept of freedom of expression, tolerance, peace, social responsibility, and social cohesion
- Empowering individuals with disabilities and harnessing their energies to achieve the goals and priorities of the disability movement.
