The Youth Platforms project is one of the youth-focused initiatives implemented by the Union of Christian Associations in partnership with various youth organizations. The Bhimitkom Association joined this project for the second consecutive year. The goal of the project is to integrate youth with disabilities with youth without disabilities, ensuring that the issues and rights of youth with disabilities are part of the broader Palestinian youth agenda. Youth with disabilities are seen as an inseparable part of Palestinian society.
As part of the project, a team of youth with disabilities was formed, who received various training sessions and actively participated in campaigns and initiatives under the project. Several activities were carried out to highlight the rights and issues related to people with disabilities. These activities included holding online discussion sessions on various topics, as well as organizing visits and programs to foster integration between youth with disabilities and those without.
The project also involved collaborative campaigns between Bhimitkom and the partner organizations, with one of the key initiatives being the digital advocacy campaign, which included the following activities:
Training on Digital Advocacy:
The youth group participated in intensive training on digital advocacy and how to leverage social media to support the causes of persons with disabilities.
Campaign on a Specific Issue:
A specific issue concerning the rights of persons with disabilities was chosen for advocacy. The issue highlighted was the accessibility of “request taxis” in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate for persons with disabilities.
Creating Campaign Materials:
A video was produced and posters were designed for the campaign. These materials were shared on the association’s Facebook page and the pages of the partner institutions.
