Digital Initiative within the Project “Supporting Children and Youth with Disabilities in Palestine”
The Bhimitkom Association for Youth with Disabilities implemented a digital initiative as part of the “Supporting Children and Youth with Disabilities in Palestine” project, in partnership with the QADER Foundation for Community Development. The association formed a youth team consisting of 12 volunteers, 9 females and 3 males, aged between 18-25 years, who were trained for 5 days on the rights of persons with disabilities and how to manage and plan advocacy, lobbying, and accountability campaigns.
The key outcomes of this training were the development of the initiative’s activities, which included three main activities:
3 Online Dialogue Sessions: The association held 3 dialogue sessions via Zoom, which were also streamed live on its Facebook page. The sessions focused on three critical issues related to the rights of children with disabilities in Palestine. Experts and decision-makers were invited to discuss these topics. The first session was titled “Methods of Dealing with Children with Autism,” the second was “Accessibility of Parks, Gardens, and Recreational Spaces for Children with Disabilities,” and the third discussed “The Readiness of Nurseries and Kindergartens to Welcome Children with Disabilities.”
Design and Publication of 5 Sponsored Electronic Posters: The association designed and published 5 sponsored electronic posters on the Bhimitkom Facebook page and Instagram (@Bhimitkom). These posters highlighted various issues and rights of persons with disabilities, as outlined in Palestinian law.
