Bihimmetkom Association for Youth with Disabilities organized a training course on etiquette for dealing with individuals with disabilities of various types on Sunday and Monday, the 15th and 16th of December, 2024, at the association’s headquarters in Ramallah.
The course targeted a group of government employees and several workers in Palestinian civil society, with the goal of instilling principles of conscious and responsible interaction with individuals with disabilities.
It also aimed to raise awareness among participants about the fundamentals of humane and professional interactions with individuals with disabilities of various kinds, by highlighting effective and appropriate communication etiquette that considers their specific needs. The course addressed how to create an inclusive environment that demonstrates respect and awareness of the rights of individuals with disabilities, and promotes their active participation in society.
During the opening of the course, Ms. Amira Abu Arqoub, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of this course in shedding light on the best practices for dealing with individuals with disabilities. She praised the role of the association in raising community awareness. She also provided a comprehensive introduction to the association, discussing its mission and goals in empowering youth and enhancing their integration into society.
In this context, Mr. Mohamed Abu Khalil, one of the founders of the association and its former Chairman, reviewed the founding phase of the association, touching upon the most prominent projects and activities that have been carried out since its inception, which have had a tangible impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed Al-Omla, the association’s Secretary, added the association’s pioneering vision, which focuses on implementing innovative projects that highlight both youth with and without disabilities. He pointed out the importance of these projects in enhancing community cooperation and integration.
