  • Wa’em Initiative: Celebrating White Cane Safety Day – October 15
    The Wa’em Initiative focuses on addressing the needs of individuals with visual disabilities, specifically in adapting public spaces to enhance accessibility.
    Key Activities:
    1. Braille Menus in Restaurants and Cafes:
      • Translation and printing of food and beverage menus in Braille for 17 restaurants and cafes across 50 branches.
    2. Accessible Elevators:
      • Collaboration with elevator companies to adapt 3 elevators in commercial centers in Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
      • The adaptation of Al-Khatib Building’s elevator, which houses the General Union of Persons with Disabilities (Ramallah and Al-Bireh branch), to include auditory guidance and Braille signage.
    3. Future Plans:
      • Further elevator adaptations are planned for completion during 2021.
    Partners and Support:
    This initiative is carried out in partnership with and supported by the Palestinian Vision Organization, reflecting a strong commitment to creating an inclusive environment for individuals with visual disabilities.
    Wa’em continues to lead efforts to raise awareness and foster inclusivity in public spaces, promoting accessibility for all.
