Ramallah – The Bihimmetkom Association for Youth with Disabilities organized a training course on “Etiquette for Dealing with Individuals with Disabilities” on Monday, November 18, 2024, with the participation of representatives from various civil and local organizations.
The course was opened by the Chairperson of the Board, Ms. Amira Abu Arqoub, who emphasized the importance of this initiative in raising awareness about how to interact with individuals with disabilities, ensuring their full integration into society. She pointed out that the course aims to empower participants with suitable interaction techniques that promote respect and dignity for people with disabilities.
Mr. Mohamed Abu Khalil, one of the founders of the association and former Chairperson of the Board, stressed the pivotal role Bihimmetkom plays in supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities, as well as promoting societal understanding of their needs.
The course was led by trainer Mr. Awad Abayat, who discussed the key principles of etiquette for interacting with individuals with disabilities. A short film was also shown, portraying real-life experiences of people with disabilities, adding a human dimension to the session and enhancing the participants’ understanding of the issues discussed.
The course will continue for two consecutive days, with interactive activities designed to introduce participants to appropriate methods of interaction that cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities, contributing to the creation of a more inclusive community environment.
This course is considered an important step toward building a more inclusive society that respects the rights of people with disabilities and fosters a culture of acceptance and cooperation among all its members.
